47079 Pilning 27th May 1982
Warts and all picture of 47079 G.J. Churchward approaching Pilning at 19:41 on a loaded coal or coke train. Forty years on I'm guessing it was a South Wales to Commonwealth Smelting (Avonmouth) service.
The locomotive which entered service as D1664 on 27th March 1965 still survives as 57009 owned by West Coast Railways but stored at Carnforth.
