50015 “Valiant” on display at the 1982 Laira open day. The English Electric built locomotive was new to the London Midland region in April 1968, built primally for West Coast passenger service north of Crewe. Transferred to the Western Region in 1976 it lasted in traffic with British Rail until withdrawn on the 5th of June 1992. Initially bought by Pete Waterman it is now owned and maintained by the Bury Valiant Group and based at The East Lancs Railway where its been since October 1992.
