60035 Llandarcy 23rd March 1995

With Margam driver John Thomas at the controls 60035 runs past Llandarcy oil refinery near Swansea with 6B25, a Westerleigh Murco to Robeston service of discharged fuel tanks. Llandarcy Oil Refinery was the UK's first oil refinery, the BP owned site opening 29th June 1922 and rail connected with an east and west chord. After years of diminishing production it finally closed in 1998 with the site being demolished in October 2009. As is usual these days a housing estate now occupies the area where the oil storage tanks are in the photograph and trees have obliterated the view
