Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa) larvae B0928 Grey Co, ON PFN
Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa) larvae on Willow.
Grey County, Ontario, Canada.
June 18, 2008.
These caterpillars are often found wandering alone on the ground, looking for a place to pupate (once they're fully grown). I've found them on downtown sidewalks, far from any known food source.
