Sketchbook Work: AS Vintage Project, Make do and mend research
With clothes rationed, due to the army having priority over clothing and the decreased manifacturing of clothes 'Make do and mend' was a wartime slogan that encouraged people to fix things rather than throwing them away in order to save material. Make do and mend is relevant to my vintage project as it was introduced during the 1940's and with the current economic climate the make do and mend ethos has a lot to teach us. I really like the idea of using recycled materials and this is something I'd really like to develop in my project.
