EVA-2 Galileo Galilei

I started this project with the naive intention of creating a Microscale/Nanoscale LEGO model of the Icarus 2 from Danny Boyle's SUNSHINE. After the first hour or so I realized it was going to be too difficult to actually replicate the proportions in a not-so-boring way, also there is very little reference material for this ship on the web, so anyway I started adding some personal touches to the spaceship. It is still heavily influenced by the Icarus 2 though, as you can tell by the shape and the huge "umbrella" panels in from of the vessel.

Gone is the massive bomb payload from the original Icarus 2, and of course the mission is no longer to reignite the Sun, instead the EVA-2 and it's 33 crew members main mission is to travel for decades, to explore, bring and gather information about our past and future. Based on a relatively close future time where space travel is no yet understood or controlled but a couple of new technologies and discoveries make this journey possible.

Rumors about the existence of a not yet confirmed "Eva-3" has been circulating for years, it is supposed to be a clone ship of the Eva-2 built just before the Eva-2 was finished, there is evidence of two exact Eva-2 ships using the same name and id number. Opposed to the Eva-2, the Eva-3 or "Evil-3" as people like to call it, is supposed to be a full military nuclear ship.

With only 30cm long this is the biggest MOC I have ever built, go figure! :D

At roughly 1:1200 scale, I'm not even sure if it has to be tagged as Microscale or Nanoscale!?
