Former Park Avenue Elementary School Tyrone, PA
The Former Park Avenue (later Washington) Elementary School in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. This building was built in 1897.
This school (I believe) closed in 1952 upon the opening of the new (replacement) Logan Avenue and Adams Avenue Schools that replaced their ~65 year old namesakes. These new buildings stood as pillars of the community until the middle of the 1998-1999 school year when the Tyrone Area Elementary School opened up beside the High School built in 1962. This building may have lasted until 1962 when this High School opened, at which point the former Junior/Senior high school became Lincoln Elementary.
The portion of the building to the left of the door/ tower was added after 1897.
