THIS WEEK IN PHOTOS - Summer Research
Josh Newby, Assistant Professor
Department of Chemistry, This fall I’ll be teaching Intro General Chemistry lecture (Chem 110), Accelerated General Chemistry lab (Chem 110) and Physical Chemistry I (Chem 320).
My current research focuses on the structure and evolution of natural product molecules; both on Earth and in interstellar environments. We start with simple molecules, add energy in the form of heat or light, and observe chemical change. This work sheds light on the formation of complex molecules in combustion processes, planetary atmospheres, and the interstellar medium. I’ll be building my lab this year and will need students to help!
