Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)

These three Tawny Frogmouths were born and raised at the San Antonio Zoo in San Antonio Texas U.S.A. The Tawny's are native to Australia.

The Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) may look like an owl, and although it is related to owls, the Tawny Frogmouth is more closely related to Oilbirds and Nightjars. The Tawny Frogmouth is found throughout mainland Australia, Tasmania and southern New Guinea and it also occurs in India and across southern Asia.
