Bernie Tuffs - Unconditional Love
Unconditional Love
After a particularly unpleasant interaction with some homophobic "Christians" I created this piece to work through my feelings!
Three non-specific people to represent everybody being equal.
Each wears wings to remind us that we should be welcoming and kind to strangers 'for some have entertained angels unawares.'
All wear crowns to show that their lives matter.
A heart hangs over the head of each showing that everybody deserves unconditional love.
The butterfly represents change. I can only hope and pray that those who said such nasty things publicly and refused to accept that their words could cause harm to others will one day see the light and change to being loving humans - loving of everybody not merely those who share their offensive, extreme, discriminatory views.
The butterfly is bringing colour to the world with the change that is coming...dispelling the darker greyness.
In the background is a hint of mesh to represent a cage. The people against whom such people rail and hate are surrounded and shut in by the awful words and sentiments. Those spewing the hate are also prisoners of their beliefs. These people see monsters where there are none and live only a half life, openly admitting they are incapable of unconditional love towards those they despise.
I tried making a dark piece but my Muse just wasn't having it lol :) It seems that out of every awful experience there's a positive one to be had as well :)
I now have more insight into how certain people think and a tiny glimpse was had into what can be a daily occurrence for many.
I am thankful I stood up and challenged homophobic "Christianity" today.
