145 flowers Christmas Cactus
Taken in December 2015. Schlumbergera truncata and S. × buckleyi are the two species of epiphytic cacti that are both commonly known as the Christmas cactus, so called because they flower from late November to late January. There are six species altogether and they come from the coastal mountains of S.E. Brazil where they grow on trees rather than the more traditional places. Not a particularly attractive plant but they produce an abundance of lovely flowers A little warm up for a rapidly approaching December 25th.
