This foot guard regiment is one of the most senior infantry units in the British Army, with origins dating back to 1656. As well as guarding royal palaces and undertaking ceremonial duties, its soldiers have served in almost every major campaign the Army has fought.
The Highland Scots troops wore the kilt and feather bonnet.
