Besides the folk and spoon a soldier also carried:

 

6. A folding knife that fitted into a pocket and could be used for cutting food or any other job that required cutting.

 

7. A flint and steel striker which could be used as a campfire.

 

8. Soldiers carried a comb and were required to comb their hair once a day to promote good health.

 

11. Since smoking was a popular relaxation activity most soldiers carried a clay pipe.

 

16. This leather covered box held cartridges and served to keep a soldier's musket cartridges dry. To conserve gum power cartridges were only issued when on guard duty or going into battle.

 

17. Number 17 is a musket tool. It is a small tool with a screwdriver blade which was used to remove and work on the lock of a musket.
