The Mansion known as The White Caps in Spring Lake during the 1960's
This mansion was built by Susan Urie who built the present day Essex & Sussex in 1914 and it was called White Caps. During the 1930's, a Socialite from NY , Kavanaugh, owned it and held many parties there. She brought blankets and whiskey to the survivors on the beach from the Morro Castle disaster in September of 1933. It did have the nickname The White House as did Martin Maloney's estate house on First and Jersey and Morris Avenues.
