Jamestown Island in Virginia

Jamestown Island is a 1,561-acre island in the James River in Virginia. This is the site of the original Jamestown Settlement in Virginia. It is here when the first English Settlement in the America can be found.

 

Note the salt marshes along Jamestown Island. The ample wetlands on the island proved to be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
