The Elkanah Deane House in Historic Williamsburg
This house was named for an Irish coach maker who paid seven hundred pounds for four lots and built the original dwelling, shop, and garden on this site in 1772. He had been encouraged to move to Williamsburg from New York by The Royal Governor Lord Dunmore.
