Welcome to the Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg, VA.

William, Duke of Gloucester, the son of the future Queen Anne. In 1700 Gloucester died at the age of eleven, and a street in colonial-era Williamsburg was named after him.

The Duke of Gloucester Street was widened from a horse path to a ninety-nine-foot-wide street to connect the College of William and Mary to the new capitol building.

It is the main thoroughfare through the historic district of Williamsburg, VA.

Anyone can walk down the street and appreciate the period buildings and people in colonial costume.

It is less than a mile long, but strolling down it you can see so much and you feel like you have traveled back in time.

It has been called 'The most historic street in all of America"
