The Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, New Jersey
The Paramount Theater is co-located with the Asbury Park Convention Hall on the boardwalk along the Atlantic Ocean. The two are connected by an arcade that spans the boardwalk, and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, and Bradley Park on the west. The grand opening of the theater on July 11, 1930, with a showing of Wings. In attendance were Wings leading man Charles "Buddy" Rogers, the Marx Brothers, Ginger Rogers, Ed Wynn, Fredric March, and Carole Lombard. The theater featured a mix of movies and live performances from 1930 into the 1980s. The 1,600-seat theater was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
