The Sanctuary Screen in The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart
This screen separates the Ambulatory from the Sanctuary. The exquisitely hand carved woodwork that surrounds the sanctuary is of Appalachian oak. It is considered among the finest wood carvings in the United States. Carved into this screen are figures of the Archangels Michael and Raphael as well as St. Vincent the Deacon. The screen is also decorated with medallions depicting the 25 virtues, 17 symbols of Our Lord and 8 emblems of the church.
