The tester, or canopy, rises about the pulpit. It is decorated with pomegranates, grapes, lilies,oak leaves and other designs of symbolic significance to the church. Octagonally shaped, the pulpit has a base composed of eight columns of Siena marble. Five corners have canopied niches that hold figures of St John, St. Peter, St. Patrick, St. Paul and St. Andrew.
