Old Massachusetts State House

Built in 1713 this historic landmark served as the seat of government and as a merchant's exchange. In 1761 James Otis opposed the Writs of Assistance here inspiring John Adams to state Independence has been born. Under the balcony is the site of the 1770 Boston Massacre when British Soldiers fired on a crowd of Bostonians, One of the victims to die that day was Crispus Attucks a fugitive slave.
