Connell Building

The Connell Building has some nice art deco/streamline modern touches. The building is pre-art deco, built in 1908, but "modernized" in 1935 with the streamline touches. It was originally built for a textile and garment manufacturer. This is one of three buildings that comprise the Santee Court, an adaptive reuse project. As part of yet another reincarnation, it was recently renovated to serve as a mixed residential and retail space. Despite being over a century old and weathering several earthquakes it appears to be great shape.

Because of the contrasty, late-afternoon light, I processed this as an HDR from a single RAW image. The pronounced perspective distortion is from the use of my wide-angle lens.
