Edison Building Lobby
This is the impressive lobby of the Southern California Edison building, now known only as One Bunker Hill. Many examples of art deco in Los Angeles pay tribute to life in Southern California by incorporating palm trees, waves, angels, the sun, etc. In contrast, this building is very classically inspired but still impressive.
In retrospect, I should have taken this as multiple shots and stitched them. I could have controlled the perspective distortion. However, the ultra-wide single-shot view here does accentuate the vertical space within the main lobby.
By the way, although it is not especially visible in this shot, the mural at the end of the room is by Hugo Ballin, who created many notable Art Deco murals in Los Angeles, including the rotunda ceiling at Griffith Park Observatory. The mural is titled "The Apotheosis of Power." It was completed in 1930.
