#6 - Moonlight Serenade

This shot was taken the night before the full moon at McKeldin Falls in Patapsco State Park. The star-like dot you can see through the trees to the right is actually Jupiter.

I wanted to do this photo for my Project 365 last year, but by the time I figured out I wanted to take this shot, the weather, moon phases, and my schedule all conspired against me. Tonight, however, things aligned just about perfectly - AND I got a planet in the background to boot!

I'm hoping to go back sometime and shoot this as a time-lapse. Between the waterfall itself and the swirling foam bubbles in the pool just out of view to the left, I think it would look pretty darn cool.

18mm lens, f/3.5, 20s exposure, ISO 1600.
