It eats and grows into a small beetle which is purple and black also seen in this picture.The poor larvae are not very handsome, but are extremely effective little eaters of bugs.These are the gardeners greatest friends and predators of all. They love eating Scale, Aphids and Mealy Bugs, which are similar to Aphids as the female cow gives birth just the same as the aphid do, by asexual cloning.
