Interstice: motivation
For the series we had to photograph an object in the studio as a visual statement for this series.
As you can read in the text that accompanies the images I have a strong desire to wander the globe. In this desire I find myself a stranger upon arriving home again, as I became familiar with my new surroundings while home never seems to change that much. Yet this feeling of unease makes me realize something has changed, namely me, and therefor I must change my home as well. It became a visual exercise on capturing this idea of home as an everchanging value, as the place you once started running from into the place you wish to run for, and the feeling of getting stuck in these cycles of transformation.
“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”
-Randy Pausch, from The Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams
