Always very sad when previously preserved vehicles in the U.K. get 'put out to grass' in foreign countries! This Neepsend-bodied Regent V 2D3RA originally 8859VR, was collected by Koichi Ueno, a Japanese owner at Rokko Island, where it arrived 18-10-12 and the photo shows it seemingly disused as per a twitter tweet posted on 15-4-18. twitter.com/shibatorakotsu/status/984449999223209984?fbcl...
The bus was reportedly bought to be used as event space in Kakogawa City, www.flickr.com/photos/mother-kobe1/8469922384/ , and although displayed in 2/13 staff.kobe-sc.jp/e226314.html, by 4/13 it had became used in Kobe City by 'Swimmy Kobe', a children's organisation.
The 4/18 tweet doesn't say where the photo was taken, but it does say that the bus had previously been in Nara Prefecture, so this implies that it was then in its third location in Japan. The bus was new in 1/64 to A Mayne & Sons, Manchester and in 7/80 was loaned to Stevensons of Uttoxeter, but doesn't appear to have been used. In 11/80 it was returned to Mayne and was then retained as a preserved vehicle for many years.
More details about the history of the bus and how it came to be exported after being in U.K. preservation www.old-bus-photos.co.uk/?p=30077.
