Cooling of the coffee

Presented is coffee in a Blue Willow patterned saucer. When I was a child, I watched relatives sometimes pour their coffee into a saucer and drink from the saucer. Perhaps, the very hot coffee from a percolator needed to be cooled quickly --- maybe they just liked to hear the slurping sound as they drank.
