bittersweet...
Fairport Baptist Homes is in the background. I have volunteered there since 2013, when my mom was a residen for 3 years. After her death, I've continued to volunteer and have become close with residents and staff. This Independant/assisted living/long term care facility originated in 1904, a mission of the Baptist Church: and though unafilliated formally in the 1970's, it has remained a non-profit, caring, spiritual and reasonably priced facility. Last year it was reated #13 our of 600 in New York State for quality of care. Covid hit hard though and Fairport Baptist had no choice but to decalre bankruptcy - another non-profit home in Rochester was lending a hand and planned to purchase FBH, but they were WAY outbid by a huge "for-profit" company that operates over 100 nursing homes, mostly in Texas and Florida and has a poor reputation. I am heartbroken for the residents and staff of my beloved Fairport Baptist.
