(k) The 34 movies I saw in 2012 :)

Only counting movies I saw for the first time. I enjoyed most of them. At the mo, only three (#14 + #31 + #34) sit firmly on the great shiny fave list of win, but we'll see what happens... :q WARNING: LIST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!

4-Jan-2012: 1. Marie Antoinette

14-Jan-2012: 2. The Twilight saga: Breaking dawn - part 1

28-Jan-2012: 3. Angels and demons

The book mostly sucked. On the other hand, Ewan McGregor is in the movie. :B

23-Feb-2012: 4. My week with Marilyn

Fanboydream, and moving, IIRC. :) I saw it because of Emma Watson.

19-Apr-2012: 5. The lady

Biopic about Aung San Suu Kyi. I checked it out because I’m a David Thewlis fan, but enjoyed the rest of the movie too.

3-May-2012: 6. The woman in black

I like Danrad’s career. :) In other news, this was quite scary. :| I CAN’T FUCKING IDENTIFY WITH HORROR CHARACTERS WHO APPROACH SCARY NOISES AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA –

22-May-2012: 7. The dictator

THE FUCKING HELICOPTER SCENE AND THE FUCKING SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!! HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH –

6-Jul-2012: 8. En enkel till Antibes

Swedish roadmovie about an old guy who wants to run away to Antibes, which my family has visited, so we had to see this. Turns out it features a market square about one block from the flat we rented! :D

20-Jul-2012: 9. On the road

What I said about the book: “I had seen ‘On the road’ mentioned in a couple of other books and got curious. And as I was ‘planning’ an epic North American trip (2013, YEAH?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!), I thought I'd better check this out (since it would suck to return home and THEN read the cult book and maybe become a huge fangirl and scream ‘AW MAN I SHOULD HAVE GONE TO THAT KEWL SPOT THAT I'M SURE HASN'T EVEN BEEN DEMOLISHED SINCE 1947!!!!!!1’). It was pretty fun (as was the little 2012 movie), and I eventually decided to read his 400000000 other books as well.”

17-Aug-2012: 10. Love always, Carolyn

Documentary about Carolyn Cassady, one of the (real-life) characters in “On the road”. Click here for the story of how my buddy and I almost ran into her on our travels! Only not really.

19-Aug-2012: 11. Horrible bosses

25-Aug-2012: 12. Sophie Scholl

1. So, uh, yeah, I… leaflet too. :)

2. But, but, how hardcore is it to risk your life if you believe in afterlife? I still appreciate her work. But why aren’t all afterlife believers in a hurry to get to paradise? :B

25-Aug-2012: 13. War horse

As conventional as I expected it to be, but. Horsymovie! And David Thewlis! :)

29-Aug-2012: 14. Tusen gånger starkare

Fave! English title: "A thousand times stronger." Swedish and realistic feminist youth movie that should be shown in classrooms everywhere (and perhaps has been). The girls in a school are treated normally = unfairly, but nobody really notices until a pair of fresh eyes arrive in class…!

30-Aug-2012: 15. Robots

More Ewan McGregor

31-Aug-2012: 16. I’m not there

Though I suck at music and at music knowledge (including Dylan), I like to get me some music history. The movie was extremely weird and artsy but had fun moments. And suddenly friggin Allen Ginsberg shows up. XD Later I finally got around to checking out at least a few Dylan albums, and found a few fave songs. :) Such as “The ballad of Hollis Brown”. *creepy slothsmile*

31-Aug-2012: 17. The road

Better than the book. AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH THE PEOPLE IN THE BASEMENT. IIRC, the music was pretty good too. And societal-collapse stories in general.

1-Sep-2012: 18. Australia

Pretty beginning. Then the movie never ended. Speciesism: Romanticized.

8-Sep-2012: 19. Remember me

15-Sep-2012: 20. Gorillas in the mist: The story of Dian Fossey

:’(

21-Sep-2012: 21. Across the universe

I forgot why this was on my to-see list, but assumed it was due to my general interest in music history (I don’t like the Beatles), so I watched it and realized I might have listed it because Bono eventually showed up although I didn’t recognize him until he sang something. :) And it would appear his character was based on Neal Cassady. And Jack Kerouac got mentioned. Tihi.

27-Sep-2012: 22. Brave

Cute. I so appreciate that the message WASN’T:

“It’s cool to not let your parents decide whom you’re gonna fuck, AS LONG AS YOU GET A BOYFRIEND AT SOME POINT BECAUSE SINGLES ARE OF COURSE BAAAAAAAAAD PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!11 [Allegedly a majority of Americans believed that last bit in the 50s or something.] AS WELL AS UNHAPPY!!!!! WAT NO I AM UNFAMILIAR WITH THESE ‘HOBBIES’ OF WHICH YOU SPEAK!!!!”

(Not that I would have heeded said message, but someone might have.)

Now we’re just waiting for a movie about a wee lad who enjoys embroidery or something.

Also, I almost teared up at the bit of SCOTLAND PR0N early on. I will make a screencap and a neat desktop picture of the moment where the ZOMG SHIRE HORSY!!!!!! rolls in the grass in front of a pink-misted valley. x) *diez* *is ded*

28-Sep-2012: 23. The help

I had read the book.

4-Oct-2012: 24. The Runaways

Music history! K-Stew swearing!

5-Oct-2012: 25. Milk

Biopic about a gay politician in Frisco in the 70s.

11-Oct-2012: 26. Be kind rewind

19-Oct-2012: 27. Nowhere boy

Pretty boring…

2-Nov-2012: 28. 127 hours

Better than I thought. Creatively filmed. My mum agreed on goodness, but left during THAT scene. I remained where I was, and didn’t barf. :D I wanna be hardcore and outdoorsy too. 8D WELL AT LEAST I HAVEN’T LOST MY SWISS ARMY KNIFE, WHICH DUE TO SPARSE USE SHOULD BE SHARP. 8| Although I might simply have used it to give myself an artery-piercing. Anyway, I wanna read the book (which has been called inferior to the movie). I found it lying around at someone’s house, checked out the juiciest bits, and was queasy for hours. THE NOODLE NEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRVE.

11-Nov-2012: 29. This must be the place

Funny until I realized I didn’t get shit. Wat. #art

24-Nov-2012: 30. Dinner for schmucks

FUCK YEAH NERD-UPRISING. + *is fangirl for paul rudd’s face which is made of candy*

25-Nov-2012: 31. Walk hard: The Dewey Cox story

Fave! Parody of “Walk the line”, mainly. HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE!!! XD

29-Nov-2012: 32. The Twilight saga: Breaking dawn - part 2

The computer-animated baby was in the so-called uncanny valley. 8|

30-Dec-2012: 33. The song of lunch

Short, artfully written drama featuring mostly Alan Rickman!!! and Emma Thompson!!! as ex-lovers over awkward lunch. And THE VOICE as a near-constant voice-over monologue. *ergle* *hhhhhhh* *fangurldiez*

31-Dec-2012: 34. Food, Inc.

Fave! Very interesting must-see documentary. Place a pillow between chin and floor. Complement with some excellent book. :D
