20110423_3 I'm told this larva is a water scavenger beetle (Hydrophilidae). Found at the edge of a pond in Gothenburg, Sweden

From Wiki: "With rare exceptions, the larvae are predatory while the adults may be vegetarians or predators in addition to scavenging. Many species are able to produce sounds." :)

 

Another thing I just learned from Wiki is that "larva is Latin for 'ghost.'" Awesomesauce. :D

Unfortunately, "larvig" is Swedish for "silly." :|
