Das Martinstor ist im Vergleich zum Schwabentor der ältere der beiden noch erhaltenen Tortürme der mittelalterlichen Stadtbefestigung von Freiburg im Breisgau. Es wurde als „Porta Sancti Martini“ 1238 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Auch dieses Tor wurde beim Bau der Straßenbahn 1901 erhöht und zwar von 22 auf 63 Meter. Direkt am Tor befindet sich Mc Donald's, aber wenigstens nicht mit buntem Logo :-)
Compared to the Schwabentor, the Martinstor is the older of the two surviving gate towers of the medieval city fortifications of Freiburg im Breisgau. It was first mentioned as "Porta Sancti Martini" in 1238. This gate was also increased from 22 to 63 meters, when the tram was built 1901. Mc Donald's is right at the gate, but at least not with a colorful logo :-)
