In vielen Rathäusern auf Mallorca(wie hier in Santanyi) findet man
die Pappmaché-Riesen, die sogenannten 'Gegants'. Sie spielen eine wichtige Rolle in der Folklore-Kultur der Dörfer und Städte auf Mallorca.
Die Riesen werden in der Regel von traditioneller mallorquinischer Musik - mit Sackpfeife, Flöte und Trommel - begleitet.An dem Treffen nehmen neben den "Gegants" auch Tanz- und Folkloregruppen teil.
In many town halls on Mallorca (like here in Santanyi) you can find
the papier-mâché giants, the so-called 'Gegants'. They play an important role in the folklore culture of the villages and towns of Mallorca.
The giants are usually accompanied by traditional Mallorcan music - with bagpipes, flutes and drums. In addition to the "gegants", dance and folklore groups also take part in the meeting
