Jeder Knäuel besteht in der Regel aus einer endständigen weiblichen Blüte und mehreren seitenständigen männlichen Blüten. Eine Blütenkrone fehlt, vorhanden sind lediglich mehrere sehr kleine Hüll- und Kelchblätter. Die weiblichen Blüten haben drei Griffel, jeweils mit einer zweigeteilten Narbe, die männlichen Blüten jeweils vier Staubblätter.
