Das Gebäude des Landgerichtes wurde 1903 bis 1905 errichtet. Es handelt sich um eines der repräsentativsten Bauwerke der Stadt im typischen, historistischen Stil wilhelminischer Justizbauten. Es besitzt eine breite Doppelturmfassade zum Hansering.
Die flankierenden Türme haben eine Höhe von 50 Metern. Stilistisch verbindet es auch Formen der Gotik, der Renaissance und des Jugendstils. Bemerkenswert ist neben der Fassade aus Sandstein das Treppenhaus mit einer doppelten Wendeltreppe in einer kreisrunden Kuppelhalle mit einem Durchmesser von ca. 20 Metern und einer Höhe von 42 Metern.
Der Justizpalast wurde umfangreich restauriert und im Frühjahr 2013 wieder eröffnet.
The building of the district court was built 1903 to 1905. It is one of the most representative buildings of the city in the typical, historicist style of Wilhelmine law buildings. It has a wide double tower facade to Hansering.
The flanking towers are 50 meters high. Stylistically, it also combines Gothic, Renaissance and Art Nouveau styles. Noteworthy is the sandstone façade, the staircase with a double spiral staircase in a circular dome hall with a diameter of about 20 meters and a height of 42 meters.
The Palace of Justice was extensively restored and reopened in the spring of 2013.
