Blaendare Quarry Level

Also known as the Wern Tillery Colliery.

A coal level in the Glyn Valley near Pontypool. Opened in 1912 by the Blaendare Co. Ltd and closed in the 1940s. Mined the Tillery coal seam.

The photo shows the return airway and was taken by the ventilation furnace. The adit has now been gated by the Coal Authority. The main adit was filled in the late 1980s.
