Bell, the equipment that replaced the old switchboards (cam 35mm)
Me in my thirties. Each work station was equiped with a monitor and a keyboard called "TOPS position". TOPS stood for Traffic Operator Position System. I dont know what kind of equipment the Bell operators use today. I suppose it depends on what country they are working in.
Those screens (écrans cathodiques) were said to be unsafe for pregnant women. The rays could kill your fetus if you refused to wear the protective apron supplied by the company. The protective apron was thick and heavy like those worn by radiologists.
