FAVOURS open water both fresh and saline including flooded fields. Usually remains close to the cover of mangroves, as seen above in the water reflections, feeds in cooperative working parties wading slowly through pools and gullies, and feeds on fish, crustaceans, and a variety of other aquatic invertebrates. Shy, sexes similar, and generally silent, always good to see them. Seen at the Kotu area of the Gambia.
