GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER // DE NDROCOPUS MAJOR..(23cm)

LARGER and commoner of our two pied woodpeckers. Often seen climbing tree trunks or in undulating flight, Excavates timber by drilling with its bill, seen at my home, where I have a dead tree, and will keep it just for photography.
