WRYNECK // JYNX TORQUILLA (16cm)

EXTRAORDINARY find, a member of the woodpecker family, the WRYNECK is renowned for having plumage markins so intricate that they afford it superb camouflage,The unusual name derives from its occasional habit of twisting its neck round. Feeds mainly on the ground on ants. My thanks to Jan / Mel and Robin for the location and timing !
