GREY WAGTAIL // MOTACILLA CINEREA (18cm)
AN ELEGANT BIRD, with a strikingly long tail that continually pumps up and down. The Grey Wagtail is invariably associated with fresh flowing water and often perches on mid-stream boulders or a floating leaf like above, looking for insects flying or struggling in the water. The only place I know in our area is Russell Gardens near Dover to find this Waggie, and on arrival, the whole area was full of workmen, digging the area up, they had a lottery grant, so was lucky when this one, put in a ten second appearance, not a good result, and a heavy crop, as a bit distant.
