GREY HERON // ARDEA CINEREA (90-98cm)

VERY RUDE GESTURE, poking his tongue out, this Grey Heron, is a large and familiar wetland bird, often stands motionless for hours on end, waiting for prey to pass within striking range of its bill. However sometimes it will engage in active pursuit, fish and amphibians are its main prey. Seen at Bough Beech Reserve. Kent.
