The larger and commoner of the UKs two pied woodpeckers, seen if your lucky climbing tree trunks, drilling with its bill, or in a undulating flight, and also possible to attract them to the garden with feeders. Do find if I am in position already it will accept you, if you try to approach it will normally fly uttering a loud tchick alarm call.
