SISKIN (Juv. M ) // CARDUELIS SPINUS (11cm)

Charming and well marked little finch, for some of you, these are fairly common, but a rare sight in Kent, had to travel a long way to see one, a juvenile male I believe ! The siskin is probably easiest to find in the winter months, when it searches for seeds in the outer branches of leafless alder and birch trees at woodlands. On rare times, it will sometimes visit garden feeders, seen here at Millers wood, June 2017.
