The bonny, bonny banks 1: 9.34am - Autumn colour

On Saturday I was part of a small group joining a dog-walker friend at the unearthly hour of 5.45am (to some apparently quite a civilised time!) & heading north to climb his 282nd and final Munro, Ben Lomond.

Though Ben Lomond is one of the easier Munros in terms of accessibility and straight-forwardness, the weather forecast wasn't favourable. However the date had been set, people had blocked out the date & most had travelled up the day before, so the die was cast & off we set.

The starting conditions were perfectly ok, and though the summit was in cloud, it was dry and calm as we set off through the forest onto the lower slopes of the mountain through the lovely colours of autumn - as can be seen in this view back towards Rowardennan with Glen Douglas across the loch.
