A Labor Day weekend trip to Mingo Jct. with Hugh Blaney in 1977 produced this image of CR5720 leading a westbound departing Conway Yard at Rochester tower. CR5720 was the first GP8 ( rebuilt GP7's). Eight more were delivered in the 3rd quarter of 1977, and all were later renumbered 5400-5408. Thirty nine more GP8's were "built" in 1977, but did not have dynamic brakes or the paper air filters shown here.
