Icebergs came in the most unusual shapes - this reminded me of a sitting alien

In July 2012 I had a chance to do something I've wanted to do for years - kayak in Glacier Bay in SE Alaska. I was able to pull it off on a guided trip - we had excellent guides and the other castaways were fine characters - great bunch to kayak with. The trip started with great weather the first day - we did a lot of kayaking and some hiking - what a beautiful place. Second day was a long paddle but worth it - we camped near an active calving glacier that kept exploding all night - next morning we kayaked a safe distance from the front of it and just sat mesmorized - it was great; long paddle after that with a promise of more adventure - and then the rain rolled in - solid, steady, for about 40 straight hours - it was miserable - being cold and wet for so long was not fun but everyone stayed in good spirits even though we were tent bound most of the time. Oh well - guess I'll have to go back again!
