Classy
I took these photos during a period I call "Alaska - the Clueless Years". This was late 2003-04 when I was just learning photography and shooting with live people. In retrospect it was a fun time and I shot with many fine young ladies. I just wish I could have this period over.
These photos are of Nadiya, a young mature lady from Ukraine. This was one of the strangest, most bizarre, and fun shoots I ever did. Nadiya contacted me to shoot with her daughter. The daughter was about 13-14 and I have strict rules about shooting with minors. So I'm busy shooting with the daughter and Nadiya asks if I can get some pictures of her. Of course. I start shooting with her, then the daughter starts shooting mom, and pretty soon Nadiya is going through outfit after outfit. It turned into a marathon shoot. What a blast! Also - the daughter was drop dead gorgeous - I suspect she is a famous model somewhere now.
The next day there was a knock on my door. It was Nadiya and her daughter. No makeup, looking so sweet. They brought me a gift - a red bathrobe. That was a first.
Side note - shortly after this shoot I accepted a job in England so I had to wind down my shooting. I returned to Alaska several years later, and about 8 years after this shoot I crossed paths with Nadiya again. She had undergone a bout with breast cancer and was doing fine. We did a few more shoots and then I had to move again. I hope she is doing good now.
