ray = excellent.
just a quick review for the ray lamontagne concert which was on april 3.
the show was at the palace theater in greensburg, about one hour away from pittsburgh.
opening act was "low anthem." a trio from providence, ri. i enjoyed them, a medley of lively folk, acoustic rock, and some slow ballads. they performed for an hour, beginning at 8:00.
ray, with his band of three others, played for an amazing one and a half hours including a three song encore.
there was a mix of his latest album, "goosip in the grain" and some of the well known selections frm his first two albums.
he has an INCREDIBLE voice. a chatty lad he is not, but he is a true performer, giving so much raw emotion and passion as he sings. truth be told, i enjoyed every song, but i really enjoy the one that stripped down with ray by himself. i won't give away which song it was :).
a word of caution, leave your cameras at home. the venue's security checks bags. i take that back "professional" cameras were not allowed i explained my nikon d40 was hardly a professional model, but the security was adamant so i had to walk my camera back to the car. this was not the venue's policy but ray's. i have no problem with that, but it should have been on the ticket or annouced somewhere. what was a little frustrating was they allowed point and shoots and camera phones which was still annoying with the flashes going off.
all in all, a wonderful concert. i would see ray again and again.
