The Circle...and the FUDGE!
By definition, a Christmas Bird Count covers a circle, of 7.5 miles diameter. Its far southwest perimeter extends to a few hundred feet beyond my house in Fresno, while the far northeast edge extends beyond Millerton Lake, in the area of McKenzie Preserve, where the count started around 4:45 AM with Gary Woods by report listening for owls.
Oh, and those little bags are FUDGE in two different flavors deliciously prepared by Kevin Enns-Rempel's mother, and graciously shared with birders who by lunchtime needed some serious carbo reloading!
